Done: Classic Airframes 1/48 F2A-1 Buffalo

As this was my first kit of that sort, I cannot tell wether it is “typical”short-run. Having read articles about this type of kits, I was prepared for ill-fitting parts, confusing instructions and quite a bit of guesswork when it comes to positioning parts. Ok, the Buffalo had all of these, but to a very limited extent. I did enjoy the build very much and was surprised at how well it went together. There seems to be an issue with the size of the headrest / life raft container, not fitting beneath the rear canopy – but nothing that cannot be overcome by some test fitting and sanding.
The only major flaw during the whole build was of my own fault. Trying to be clever and save on masking tape (duh…), I screwed up painting the upper wing surfaces and had to do them all over again. Apart from that, everything went well. Fuselage painted with Testors Metalizer and dull coat, the yellow is Tamiya XF-4 with a couple of drops red.
